The Romantics

7:30pm
Mennonite Heritage Village
Steinbach, MB
Tickets: $15. Available at the Door

Exaudi Chamber Choir is thrilled to begin its new concert season by performing the sounds of the European Romantic era, with works by Mendelssohn, Brahms, and others. Saturday, October 5, 7:30pm at the Mennonite Heritage Village in Steinbach, MB. Tickets – $15 at the door. See our concert listings for more information.

The concert is revolves around the music of 19th century Germany. Motets like Brahms’ (1833-1897) Warum ist das Licht gegeben Op. 74, and Mendelssohn’s (1809-1847) Psalm 100 take centre stage. Less familiar works by composers like Albert Becker (1834-1899), Peter Cornelius (1824-1874), and Max Reger (1873-1916) are also featured. Becker’s Befiehl dem Herrn deine Wege follows in the tradition set by J.S. Bach of harmonizing chorale melodies, but with a distinctly 19th century sensibility. The music of this period is rich with harmonic inventiveness and emotional intensity.

Exaudi is extremely excited to be putting this concert together. It is the first concert of what promises to be a fulfilling first year. See you on October 5th!
